STUDENTS NEED STRONG ACADEMIC SKILLS

Because academics at Principia are challenging, before starting studies at Principia, students must have completed high school with above average grades and proved that their reasoning and ability to communicate in 英语 are at the American university level.

International First Year Requirements 

  • Submit the Common Application

  • Official 英语 Translated copies of high school transcripts or leaving examination results
  • Proof of 英语 proficiency**  (see 英语 Proficiency section below)
  • SAT or ACT (required for Academic Scholarship consideration)

If your native language is not 英语 and/or your primary language of instruction in school was not 英语, you will need to demonstrate your 英语 proficiency through one of the following language tests:

  • IELTS (International 英语 Language Testing System) score: minimum 6.5个要求，最多9个
  • TOEFL exam (Test of 英语 as a Foreign Language) score: minimum 80 requirement, maximum 120

International TRANSFER STUDENTS

We welcome applications from students enrolled at other colleges or universities who wish to transfer to Principia College. 

Applicants transferring from a school outside the US should be aware that credentials cannot be evaluated for transfer credit without an official foreign credential evaluation and course descriptions (in 英语) detailing course content. Due to variations in credit hour systems and course content, it is not guaranteed that coursework will fulfill course progress towards your degree program at Principia College. 

Applicants who have previously attended a college or university in the United States or abroad will apply using the International Student Application.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Submit the Common Application

  • Official 英语 Translated copies of transcripts from all colleges or universities previously attended

  • Official course by course foreign credential evaluation for transcripts issued by a college or university outside the United States.**

  • Course descriptions or course syllabi in 英语 for all courses taken at a foreign institution (credit may not be posted without providing this information)

  • Official 英语 Translated copies of high school transcripts or leaving examination results

  • Proof of 英语 proficiency***  (see 英语 Proficiency section below)

  • SAT or ACT (required for Academic Scholarship consideration)
